Ray was born on June 28, 1946, in Teresa, Rizal, Philippines, to parents Rex and Estela Carigma.
He was one of ten siblings: Cesar, Ruben, Richard, "Girly", "Paeng", "Butch", "Jun", "Bobby", and Raynor.
He passed away on March 21, 2025 after a fulfilling 78 years of life.
Ray was deeply and widely loved. He brought belongingness to anyone he sparked a conversation with, whether it be the close family unit he led and built, or the stranger whose door he knocked on, inviting to church even at 78 years old.
He was a refined man, full of class, who enjoyed playing golf, drawing, listening to music from the 60s, traveling to national parks, being the main driver of family roadtrips, and spending a quaint life with his wife of almost 26 years, Erica, his "Panks".
He did not enjoy reading anything but his Bible. Every morning you could find him sitting at his dining table with a cup of coffee, poring through the pages of God's Word. He received his first Bible in 1998. By 2025 he was on his third bible because the first two were falling apart.
To quote Charles H. Spurgeon:
"A Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't."
Ray was surrounded by his family during his passing as they sung:
What a Day that will be
when my Jesus I shall see,
when I look upon His face,
the One who saved me by His grace.
As He takes me by the hand,
and leads me through the Promised Land,
what a day, glorious day that will be.
—What A Day That Will Be, James Hill 1955
Ray is survived by his wife Erica Carigma; his daughters Sheril Gelvezon & Harmony Johnson; his son Allen "AJ" Carigma; his grandson Knox Johnson; his sons-in-law: Elgene Gelvezon & Bradley Johnson; and his soon-to-be daughter-in-law Lenette Ponce.
