Raul Guillen, 92, was born in El Paso, Texas on January 25, 1922 to Saturnino and Maria Guillen. He moved to Los Angerles, Calif., soon after and was raised with 13 siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Guillen; and grandson Chad Dean. He leaves behind his wife, Bertha Guillen; Brothers, Martin (Eva), Diego (Lucia); sisters, Celia (Art) Sanchez and Julie (Bill) Herrera; Step-Children, Sophia Quintana, Victor (Kim) Ramos, Vicki (Rob) Walters, Isabelle Ramos, Sara (Mike) Evinger, and Cindy (Jesse) Carlos; grandchildren, Paul (Marcy) Guillen, Paullette (Ray) Devera, Roger and Andrew Guillen; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Marie, Angelica, Elizabeth, Esperanza, Chelsea, Chase, Chandler, Jeni, Joshua, Cristalle, George, Hanna, Scott, Bob, Marissa, Jesse, Joshua, Joseph; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Raul served 22 distinguished years in the Army, earned numerous medals and commendations including three Bronze Stars (one with a cluster). He was a graduate of Citrus College and Engineering School, and a member of American Army Engineers. After retiring from his electronic business, he worked as an alcohol and drug counselor. He was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 25 years and a member and minister of Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please offer donations to Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church in Palm Springs, Calif. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, Calif. A service mass will be held the same day at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church in Palm Springs, Calif. at 12:00 pm. Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries.
