Raul Garcia, Sr., a Journeyman CNC Machinist toolmaker, passed away on March 31, 2024, in Santa Ana, CA. He was born on May 27, 1942, to his parents Nicholas and Concepcion Madrid. After the passing of Raul's mother In 1947 Raul was adopted by his Aunt and Uncle Ramona and Jesus Garcia he was immigranted and brought to live in Compton, CA.
Raul was known for his kind and caring nature, always ready with a joke to bring a smile to others. He was a giving person, a good friend, a great husband, dad, and grandpa lovingly called "Abuelo" by his family.
Raul's love for his family was unparalleled, especially for his grandchildren whom he adored. He cherished spending time with them and being there for every moment of their lives. His daughter Veronica had a special bond with him, affectionately calling him "Papy".
In addition to his dedication to family, Raul had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He took pride in gardening, tending to his plants and trees with great care. He also had a passion for sports including boxing, baseball, and football. His fondest memories were the times spent camping with his family at various breathtaking locations like the Grand Canyon, Zion, Sedona, and Yosemite.
Raul's sense of humor shone through in his love for visiting Laughlin and Las Vegas. He would playfully joke about winning millions at the casino and having the suitcase ready for his winnings. A dream came true for him when he embarked on a 7-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera with his wife to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.
Despite facing health challenges from Carcinoid Tumor and Frontotemporal Dementia in his later years, Raul remained resilient and surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Raul Garcia, Sr. is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dolores Garcia; children Veronica Bustos, Raul Jr., Mario, and Carlos Garcia; grandsons Andrew Pimentel, Daniel and Nicholas Bustos, Michael, Matthew, Richard,Mario Jr., David,and Joseph Garcia; granddaughter Alexia Garcia
great-grandchildren Mila Garcia,Thiago Raul Pimentel; son-in-law Daniel Bustos; daughters-in-law Estrella,Jennifer,and Maria as well as best friends Filiberto Morales and Manuel Beltran.
He is preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Concepcion Madrid; adopted parents Jesus and Ramona Garcia; sisters Michaela Cohen,Antia Garcia,and Concha Madrid; as well as pets Underdog , Cho'Cho', Tiger,and Bruno .
Services to honor and remember Raul Garcia Sr.'s life will be held at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel in Cypress on April 12th starting with visitation at 9:30 AM followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM.
Raul will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love he shared with those around him and the joy he brought into their lives.
