Raul D. Soto, 80, born on March 5th, 1945, was surrounded by his angels while passing away peacefully on October 10th, 2025, after his fight with cancer.
Raul was born in Puerto Rico and lived in New York until he moved to Los Angeles, California where he met & married our mother Maria in July of 1965. During their 60 years of marriage, they raised three girls, Christina, Leonore and Luz Milagros along with five grandchildren, Nichole, Zachary, Armando, Andrew and Mauricio and five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Noah, Aviana, Ashton and Aria.
Raul found his love for airplanes while working on aircraft at McCulloch International Airlines and McDonalds Douglas Aircraft Corporation and shared his knowledge of the mechanical side of the engines. For many years Raul supported his family while he drove Double Bottom Dump Trailers until he retired.
Raul was a creative soul; he purchased a broken-down house with tall weeds in the yard and transformed this house into a home for his family. His creative soul did not stop there; he also developed his love for the planets which contributed to his daughter’s interest in the solar system and using a telescope. He passed on his Halloween spirit all year long, scaring his wife and daughters with props and jumping out of dark spaces. Raul used his imagination to generate new, original ideas for Christmas decorations which made you feel as though you lived at the North Pole.
Raul was a self-taught man; he could fix anything and without YouTube. Over the years, he built swimming pools, dog houses, bikes, playhouses, patios, cheer boxes, vehicles and volcanos art projects all while maintaining his semi-truck and family home.
Raul was the man that everyone called for help whether it was for moving furniture, fixing appliances or rescuing us when our car just stopped in the middle of the road.
Raul enjoying watching TV series, his most favorite was “The Hulk”, “Batman” and his favorite actors were “John Wayne”, “Chuck Norris”, “Speedy Gonzales” and “Bugs Bunny”.
Raul loved to sing and played the guitar for his family. Although he only knew one string, he made it work.
Raul respected nature, he cared for the land and the animals, especially for his dogs. He called the dogs “My kids”. He had a pet turtle for his girls and one day he accidentally hit the turtle in the driveway, Raul was devastated.
He was a strong man; a proud man and don’t be fooled, he loved his entire family.
Raul survived by his wife Maria, his daughters, Christina & Luz and grandchildren, Nichole, Zachary, Armando, Andrew and Mauricio, great grandchildren, Sophia, Noah, Aviana, Ashton and Aria. His siblings, Natty (Herman), Ruth, Junior and Sixto (Annie). His Nieces and nephews, Ivette, Miriam, Cassandra, Jerome, Tony, Ramon, Israel, Dulcina, Mariana and Adriana. With many extended cousins and nieces/nephews.
