Los Angeles

Raquel Pascual, 72, was born on April 01, 1951, in Caloocan, Philippines, and she passed away on February 18, 2024.

Raquel attended General Maximino Hizon Elementary School. Although she was only 5 years old, she entered first grade early and was able to match the academic ability of her older classmates. She graduated elementary school in 1961, and graduated from Jose Abad Santos High School in 1965. Raquel attended Philippine Normal College, and she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She was a fraction away from being awarded Cum Laude. For the year following graduation, she worked as a tutor.

After graduating, Raquel began teaching third grade at Stella Maris College. This school was under the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, the religious order that she eventually joined for 6 years as a nun. Her duties as part of the convent included working with those who suffered from leprosy in the town of Tala, Caloocan.

In April 1977, she joined three of her siblings - Virgilio, Elpidio, and Danilo - to migrate to the United States, which concluded her service as a nun. They began their residence in America living at the apartment on Berendo Street. She then became an active parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she eventually met Bert Pascual, her future husband.

Raquel began working at DMJM (later AECOM), an engineering company. While working in the accounting department, she was simultaneously continuing her education at Los Angeles City College to expand her accounting skills and knowledge. After working for this company for over 30 years, she retired due to her physical condition.

Post-retirement, Raquel spent much of her free time engaging in activities that brought her happiness. Following Bert's passing, she loved gardening, watching TFC, doing arts and crafts, going to the casino, eating at different restaurants, spending time with her family, and hosting parties at her home. One of her favorite activities was cooking for her siblings, which showed how wonderful of a sister she was. In addition to supporting her siblings, she also nurtured and cultivated all of their children, whom she treated as if they were her own. Raquel's generosity was unmatched, and she always made herself available to help all of her family and friends.

Raquel is survived by her siblings and their children. She will always be remembered as an incredible sister, aunt, wife, and friend.

She resided in Los Angeles, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.
