Ramon Eugenio Reyes, 73, of West Covina, CA, passed away on May 19 surrounded by family.

Ramon was born on April 12, 1950 to Gelacio and Maxima Reyes in San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. He graduated from the University of the East with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and worked as a corporate accountant for 40 years.

Ramon met Erlinda in an undergraduate accounting class and got to know her through their post-college CPA review class. They married in 1983 and he joined her in the United States in 1989, first in Los Angeles and then moving to West Covina in 1992.

Ramon believed in serving others in any way he could. He served as the president of the Mandaluyong Jaycees which provided free social services to the community. His service to others often came in the form of feeding his brothers and sisters in Christ, whether that was by passing out sandwiches to protesters during the People Power Revolution, cooking a big pot of arroz caldo to share with coworkers or cooking a feast for visitors in his home, first in Mandaluyong and later in West Covina.

An accomplished singer, Ramon would often be found singing Frank Sinatra on a karaoke. He was a member of several choirs in the Philippines and United States, combining his love of music with his faith. In 2013 he traveled to Italy with the San Gabriel Valley Choir and performed for Pope Benedict XVI.

Always a fighter, Ramon battled vertigo and diabetes and survived a stroke in 2016. Through it all, he retained his smile and sense of humor. Ramon is survived by his wife Erlinda, son Robert and daughter Roselynne.

He is also survived by his siblings Roberto, Rebecca, Renato, Rowena, Reena, Roderick and Rhea as well as many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He planned on celebrating 40 years of marriage with Erlinda in July and walking his daughter Roselynne down the aisle at her wedding later this year to her fiancé Gregory.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Martha Church in La Puente on Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. followed by his interment at Forest Lawn Covina Hills.
