Ramon Lachica Castro

Ramon Lachica Castro, Sr., 84, of Cathedral City, Calif., passed away January 17, 2014 in Palm Springs, Calif. He was born August 9, 1929 to Pedro and Agustina Castro in Honolulu, Hawaii. He lived in O'ahu with his twelve brothers and sisters during his childhood and later moved to the Philippines. He married Dorotea Roque on January 17, 1948 in Manila and had twelve children. He went back to the United States in 1975 to be with his siblings in California. He worked as a kitchen helper at The Springs Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. for 17 years. Ramon is survived by his daughters, Lourdes Castro of Palm Springs and Emelia Castro Thomas of Cathedral City; sons, Danilo, Virgil, Joselito, Reynaldo and Alex Castro of Cathedral City, Andres Castro of Rancho Mirage, and Ramon Jr., and Roberto Castro of Palm Springs; and his sister, Lydia Castro Roque of Cathedral City. He leaves behind twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was a very compassionate person. He was loved by his family and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a rosary at 6:30pm at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014, 12:00 noon at Forest Lawn Cathedral City with interment to follow at the Desert Memorial Park. Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.
