Obituary for Rameses O. Sorrell
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we mourn the loss of Rameses O. Sorrell, a remarkable individual whose presence touched the lives of many. Rameses, affectionately known as "PreseWon" to family and friends, passed away on October 20th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Born in Los Angeles, California on June 19th, 1975, Rameses brought immense joy and warmth to his family from the very beginning. He is survived by his parents, mother Claudia J. Jackson, father H. L. Sorrell, his aunts Phyllis and Rosalind Jackson, Rozlyn Sorrell and uncles, Aubrey, Maren and David Jackson, cousins and numerous friends.
Rameses' childhood was filled with curiosity and an insatiable appetite for knowledge. His passion for architecture began to bloom at a young age, guiding him towards a successful career that spanned over two decades. As an Architectural Professional, he excelled in maintaining and supervising the coordination of 3D design and construction projects for clients.
Throughout his career journey, Rameses held various roles including CAD Manager, Project Manager, and Project Coordinator. His expertise expanded beyond architecture as he obtained certifications in CAL OSHA construction and CPR. His proficiency in software such as BIM manager, REVIT, and AUTOCAD propelled him to new heights in the architectural industry.
Rameses' commitment to continuous learning led him to enroll in the UCLA Construction Management Certification program at the time of his untimely demise. His dedication to self-improvement reflected his relentless pursuit of excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rameses will be remembered for the kind-heartedness he extended to others. His soft nature and giving heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Loyalty, kindness, a keen sense of humor, intellect, and visionary thinking defined his character. To know Rameses was to embrace his gentle yet towering spirit.
Outside the world of architecture, Rameses thrived as a creative artist. His talents extended to various art forms, including composing and producing music, painting, writing and self described as an Advocate for Spiritual Enlightenment. Gifted with a multitude of interests in people, places, and things, he continuously explored new horizons with an unyielding thirst for knowledge. Mentorship played a significant role in his life, highlighting his desire to uplift others and help them grow.
One of Rameses' proudest accomplishments was his dedication to education. He obtained an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Architecture from Santa Monica College. Continuing on his educational journey, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California. Additionally, Rameses achieved a Master's degree in Theology and Ministry along with a Chaplaincy Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. His commitment to scholarship was recognized through awards such as the Certificate of Outstanding Academic Achievement and the Black Collegians Academic Award. Notably, he received the esteemed Wilson Brothers Building Award for his exceptional contributions.
Rameses founded JahJah Productions and International Faith Ministry, a non-profit organization that served as a testament to his compassionate soul. Through these endeavors, he touched countless lives and brought hope to those in need.
As we say farewell to Rameses O. Sorrell, we remember the beautiful memories created during his time with us. While our hearts ache at his absence, we find solace knowing that Rameses will forever live on through the hearts and minds of those he knew and loved.
