Carroll, NH: Ralph E. Mayo, 72, a former resident of Westville Road and lifelong resident of Plaistow until moving to Carroll, NH in 2003, died on August 13, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT, following a brief illness.

Born in Haverhill and raised and educated in Plaistow, son of the late Robert and Bertha (Rielly) Mayo, he attended Pollard School and Sanborn Seminary. Mr. Mayo served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War from 1960 to 1966 and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal.

Mr. Mayo was most recently employed as a greens keeper for Mountain View Grande Resort and Spa since 2003. He was previously employed as a landscaper for R.E.P Enterprise and as an auto detailer for Fitzgerald Hick's Dodge in Salem. He also owned and operated Mayo's Auto Care in Plaistow for many years.

A former member of the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion and a seventeen year member of the Flying Iron Horseshoe Club, Mr. Mayo enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, kayaking, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Judi (Broyles) Mayo, two sons, Ralph E. Mayo, Jr. and his wife Sue of Sandown, and Scott A. Mayo of Pembroke, NH, three brothers, Robert Mayo of Danville, William Mayo of Plaistow, and Charles Mayo of Florida, two sisters, Josephine DeSerres of Florida, Bertha Horsch of Twin Mountain, NH, and Carol LaPorte of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Jared Mayo, Trevor Mayo, and Madison Mayo, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Senter and his twin brother, George Mayo.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral services will follow on Friday at 6:15 in the funeral home followed by the rendering of Military Honors by the United States Marine Corp.
