R. wayne Macneil

R. Wayne MacNeil, 65, a resident of Haverhill since 2007, died January 3, 2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, son of the late Peter and Martha (McCarthy) MacNeil, he came to the United States at the age of twelve and settled in the Dorchester section of Boston, attending local schools.

A former resident of North Andover and Wakefield for many years, Mr. MacNeil was employed as a Sales Engineer for Verizon and MCI. Most recently he enjoyed operating his own home renovation business in the Haverhill area.

A devoted grandfather, and known for his carpentry skills and ability to fix anything, he also enjoyed cars and music, especially from the 50's and 60's.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Glassman) (Brien) MacNeil, a son and daughter-in-law, Scott M. and Kristi Brien of Hopewell Junction, NY, a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda S. and Lane Tewes of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, five grandchildren, Warner, Nolan, Logan, Emily and Benjamin, five brothers, Peter MacNeil of Sudbury, John MacNeil of Rockland, Donald MacNeil of Plymouth, Blaise MacNeil of Taunton, and Anthony "Butch" MacNeil of Abington, six sisters, Agnes MacEachern of New Waterford, NS, Mildred Bryant of Rockland, Beverly Gillis of Carver, Gloria Salkin of Sunrise FL, Sharon Luppino of Brockton and Carol Daly of Hingham, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover
