Quang Hai “Winston” Luu passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on March 17, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1955, in Vietnam, the son of Ky Luu and Binh Ho, and was the second of eight siblings. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and respected business leader. Winston's life was defined by his entrepreneurial spirit and the lasting impact he made on both his family and the world around him.
Winston came to the U.S. after completing high school and received a degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. He married Phyllis Luing on April 3, 1982, in Minnesota, and then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked for MicroAge Computers. In 1992, Winston founded Computer Products Center and later Headline Business Center, which was recognized through numerous awards and accolades.
In his later years, he consulted on business projects in China after successfully participating in a merger and acquisition between Viacom and Beijing Bus Company during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Winston's love for China was not only a significant part of his professional journey but also a personal passion. He spent many years building relationships with partners, entrepreneurs, and communities across the country. His appreciation for the history, traditions, and growth of China was reflected in the respect he had for its culture, as well as his desire to bridge cultures and foster global collaboration.
In addition to his business achievements, Winston was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He held his family close to his heart and instilled values of hard work and perseverance in his children. He was a proud grandfather who deeply cherished his grandchildren. His children and grandchildren will always remember him with love and gratitude for the role he played in their lives.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Jonathan, and his sister Irene Luu. He is remembered and loved by his family: Phyllis Luing; his children, Matthew and Christina Luu; his grandchildren, Alton and Darlena Luu; his siblings, Agnes Luu, Janet Hwang (Morrison), Gloria Chan (Gideon), Winnie Ho (Tom), David Luu (Rita), Nicholas Luu (Jocelyn); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Winston's life will be held on April 25, at 3 p.m. at Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills.
Winston's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
