Haverhill, MA: Priscilla M. (Mattinson) Fitzgerald, 87, of Haverhill, MA and formerly of Atkinson, NH since 2000, died on October 16, 2014 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill and raised and educated in Groveland, MA, daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Angus) Mattinson, she graduated from Groveland High School with the Class of 1945. A resident of Salem, NH from 1961 to 1986 and Plaistow, NH from 1986 to 2000 until moving to Atkinson, Mrs. Fitzgerald was employed for Destiny Publishers in Merrimac, MA for over fifty-eight years as a bookkeeper, before retiring at the age of 80.
A member of West Congregation Church in Haverhill, Mrs. Fitzgerald was the former secretary and bookkeeper and was an active member of the church.
A devoted grandmother, she enjoyed completing Sudoku puzzles, jig saw puzzles, constructing dollhouses with her late husband, Norman, and bowling in her younger years.
She was predeceased by her husband of forty-years before his death in 2000, Norman R. Fitzgerald and her son, Gregory E. Fitzgerald who died in 1988. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan L. and James Moore of Atkinson, NH, her step-son, Norman R. Fitzgerald, Jr. and his wife Diane of Barrington, NH, a sister, Edith Brenton of Plaistow, NH, five grandchildren, Leslie, Greg, Rachel, Sean, and Brad, and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Claire Herrick, Anne Tomes, and Celia Mattinson, and her brothers, Vance Mattinson and George Mattinson.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center and Fidelis Hospice for the kindness and care extended to Mrs. Fitzgerald in her final illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Fitzgerald's Life Celebration on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 21 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
