Pilar “Pam” Carreon, 82, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. Born on March 01, 1943, in Pandacan, Manila, Philippines to parents Angel “Dodong” and Pilar “Pica” Carreon.
Pilar was the youngest of five children. She attended school at Paco Catholic School in Paco, Manila. She obtained a nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Pam went to the Chicago to work as part of the “Nurse Exchange Program “. After finishing the nursing exchange program, she went to Netherlands where she did a 6-month stint working as a nurse for Leiden University Medical Center in Holland. After Holland, she headed back to the Philippines before going back to the United States.
Pam worked for various hospitals during her stay in Chicago. The last hospital she worked for was Cook County Hospital. When she had time to spare, she took on extra work at nursing facilities. Some time in the 80s, she moved to Los Angeles, California where her three siblings (Ramon, Oyay and Boy) resided. Veterans Affairs (VA) was the last hospital she worked for before she retired.
Pilar volunteered some of her time at S.A.V.E.S. - St. Agustine Volunteer Emergency Services on a weekly basis. She found joy in knitting, crocheting, and reading. She provided great care for her dogs - Bella and, later, Chance. Pam’s love for her dogs was matched by her passion for her plants. Like her father, she had a green thumb.
Pilar was preceded by her parents, her oldest sister Lourdes “Lulu” Gonzales and her husband, Pedro “Pete” Gonzales, her oldest brother Ramon “Mon” Carreon and his wife, Raquel Carreon, and her older sister Rosa “Oyay” Reyes and her husband Alberto “Bert” Reyes.
Pilar is survived by brother, Angel “Boy” Carreon (wife Evelyn); her five nieces Regina “Gigi” McClendon (husband Ivan), Cristina “Joy” Carreon (husband Richard), Maria Victoria “ Marivic” Cuenco (husband Anthony), Angelique “Gelly” Quion (husband John) and Margaret “Margie” Carreon; eight nephews Alberto “Al” Reyes (wife Karen), Luisito “Chito” Gonzales (wife Portia), Manuel “Noel” Gonzales, Ramon “Bokie” Carreon, Robert “Bobby” Carreon (wife Andy), Angelo “Gelo” Reyes, Dennis “Chico” Carreon and Michael “Mike” Carreon (wife Sheryl); grandnieces and grandnephews and close friends.
