Pierre Victor Villeneuve

March 30, 1968 — September 1, 2021

Pierre Villeneuve, 53, passed away suddenly from a heart attack in Los Angeles Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.

Pierre was born in Montreal, Canada in 1968 to Victor and Margaret Villeneuve. They soon moved to Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, where he grew up as the oldest of five children. While Pierre was in high school his family moved to Greeneville, Tennessee, where he and the rest of his family eventually became US citizens. He studied engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and later earned a PhD in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. After graduation he pursued post-doctoral study at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and eventually took a job at Space Computer Corporation in Los Angeles.

It was in Los Angeles that he met his wife, Theresa, and started a family. His son Johnathan was born in 2005, and together they enjoyed travel, quiet nights at home in front of the TV, and socializing with friends. He shared Johnathan's love for jazz and he loved spending time with him working on shared projects. He was so proud of his son and both he and Theresa agreed that Johnathan was turning out to be a better human than either one of them.

Pierre loved his job and in 2015 he went to work for Northrop Grumman in Woodland Hills. Although not many people understood his projects, he used to always say that he "really liked solving complicated problems." He could always be seen writing in small notebooks about ideas he had. Sometimes he looked like he was taking a nap but he wasn't asleep – he was just thinking. Another place you could find Pierre thinking about problem solving was when he was with his dogs. He often lay down on the floor with them and they had a special bond.

Although Pierre was fairly shy by nature, he had a tight knit group of friends who loved him very much. They played poker, smoked cigars, sampled scotch and beer and enjoyed bad horror movies whenever they could. They will miss him terribly.

Pierre is survived by his wife, Theresa of 19 years, his son Johnathan, his brother Paul (and wife Lorrie) Villeneuve, His brother Marc (and wife Annie) Villeneuve, His sister Louisa (and wife Anna) Villeneuve, his brother Matthew Villeneuve (and wife Katrina Kimport) as well as his mother, Clare (Margaret) Villeneuve, his in-laws Patricia and Louis Zellers, and his nieces and nephews Luc, Jacob, Madeleine, Viola, Mathilde, Abbie and Aiden.
