Phyllis E. Cotton

October 13, 1939 — December 15, 2020

Phyllis Eloise Cotton, 81, passed away December 15, 2020. She resided in Glendale, CA at the time of her passing. She was born October 13, 1939 to Arley and Ruby Thomas Williams in Tulare, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents Arley and Ruby Williams; brother Arley (Junior) Williams; sister Cledas Allene Williams; and brother Gary Dean Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Glenn Cotton; daughter, Christina Aronson (Kevin) of Lafayette, CO; and her two sons, Kyle Cotton of Glendale, CA and Chad Cotton of Los Osos, CA. She also is survived by granddaughter, Maya Cotton of Arlington, VA and two grandsons, Sean Aronson (Nicole Frederick) of Scottsdale, AZ and Ryan Aronson of Palo Alto, CA. She was unabashedly proud of her grandchildren.

Surviving siblings include Donald Ray Williams, Dixie Culpepper, and Deborah Gross with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. All were very important to her.

In her youth, Phyllis supported her parents by providing care for her siblings and sought to support herself by attending junior college and attaining local employment. After marrying Glenn, Phyllis worked in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles and later spent more than 35 years as a successful real estate agent in Glendale. Though her soft voice made her appear meek, she firmly stood up for her clients, earning a reputation as an honest and ethical woman.

She is remembered for a deep appreciation of family, a chuckle similar to her mother's, and her warmth and grace. She found joy in the act of giving and expressed her love through carefully selected photos, gifts, and cards.

She was laid to rest Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held when normalcy returns in 2021. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
