Phung Kinh Tran

Phung "Jill" Kinh Tran, age 69, passed away in Los Alamitos, CA on September 19, 2021 due to Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She was born September 13, 1952 in Saigon, Vietnam. She married her love, Meng Van Tran, in April of 1976, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2021.
Phung was a loving, strong-willed and vivacious wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grand auntie and friend. She was small in size but mighty in spirit. She could out Zumba folks half her age and out eat folks twice her size. Even though we were blinded sided by the aggressive cancer, she managed to fight and even find moments of joy and laughter.

Phung was a survivor. She, along with her husband, were refugees of the Vietnam War and were resettled in Jackson City, MO, where they started their pursuit of their American Dream. She worked tirelessly for over 40 years, spanning Jackson City, MO to Cypress, CA to Sparks, NV to provide a better life for her family.

Phung's family and friends brought her joy and purpose. She is the loving and devoted mother of Priscilla Tran and Jason Tran. She is the protective oldest sister of Leslie, Cindy, Ken and Jane. The doting aunt to her nieces and nephews Nancy, Lisa, Henry, Winston, Jesse, Robin, Timothy, John, Linda, Steven and enamored great auntie to Justin, Yolene, Isabella, Gavin, Lucy and Maya.
