Peter John Simic Sr., born on December 11, 1925, in the quaint town of Keewatin, Minnesota, departed this world on October 16, 2024, in Burbank, California. His journey through life was marked by resilience, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to family, values that he instilled in all who knew him.
Peter was a proud veteran who served his country in United States Navy from 1944 - 1946, a period that laid the groundwork for a life characterized by duty and loyalty. Upon his return, he pursued higher education, culminating in a distinguished career as a tax attorney after graduating from law school.
Peter's personality was a blend of kindness and humor, with an innate ability to make others feel at ease in his presence. The memories he created, particularly those spent fishing alongside his two sons, John and Paul, are treasured fragments of a life lived fully. Peter's love for family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he cherished the time spent together, forging lasting bonds through shared laughter and adventures.
In addition to his professional accolades, Peter's interests reflected a depth of curiosity. He was an avid reader of history, often found immersed in the pages of books that illuminated the past. Furthermore, his hands were never idle; he relished the role of the dependable handyman at the boarding stable he and his beloved wife, Mildred, owned, showcasing his multifaceted talents as a woodworker, mason, plumber and electrician.
Peter is survived by his sister Lola, loving daughter and her husband, Ann and Allen, his devoted sons and their wives, John and Celina and Paul and Amanda, and seven grandchildren, who continue to carry forth his legacy of compassion and humor. His familial connections were the cornerstone of his life, and he imparted invaluable lessons through his actions and words.
