Peter Joseph Monahan

Peter Joseph Monahan of Rancho Mirage, Coronado and Pasadena died peacefully at home on March 15, 2015, three days before his 87th birthday. He was born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland in 1928 to Anthony and Teresa Monaghan. Peter left Ireland at the tender age of 17, travelling to London, and then worked on a ship that sailed to Africa. He made his way to Canada and on to New York, where he tossed a coin to decide if he should head for California or Florida. California it was, and he and his wife-to-be opened the famed Monahan's Irish Pub on Lake Street in Pasadena. Peter is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne, and his sister, Bridie. Also his sisters-in-law, Mary, Bolivia and Ximena, his brothers-in-law, Pat and Tony, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.A Service will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 21st at 10 a.m. with a reception immediately following.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Church, Att: Father Howard Lincoln, and noted: For the Benefit of "Children of Mecca, California." 43-775 Deep Canyon, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
