Peter R. "Sonny" Krafton-Atkinson, NH
79 of Atkinson, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill, MA.
Peter was raised in Lawrence, MA with his extended Krafton family. He served his country as a member of the U. S. Navy and a veteran of the Korean War before being honorably discharged. He built a distinguished career with Raytheon Corporation in Andover, MA where he retired as a senior quality control engineer after 48 years of service. While working full time Peter attended and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Peter, or "Papa" as he was affectionately known, was a family man who loved to golf, travel and took pride in his home. He will be remembered by his family as a very generous man who was always willing to give of his time or treasure, whenever his family needed him. Peter had a personality that always filled a room. He will be sadly missed .
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Diane M. (Gagne) Krafton, of Atkinson, NH, his daughters Paula M. Gilligan and Laura A. Roy of Hampstead, son-in-law Matthew Roy, his 4 precious granddaughters Jaclyn and Brianna Gilligan, Fallon and Kendall Roy and siblings, Sister M. Celine of the Sisters of Immaculate Conception, Putnam, CT., and Sister M. Silvia of OSF with the Sisters of St Francis, Pittsburg, PA.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Mary Bohne.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish at Holy Angels Church, 8 Atkinson Depot Rd., Plaistow, NH. Burial with U.S. Navy Military Honors will take place Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. There will be no calling hours.
