Haverhill, MA: Peter Henry Comiskey, 85, of Haverhill died on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Lawrence General Hospital. Peter fought valiantly but passed away after a brief illness. He will be greatly missed.
Born on March 24, 1930 in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Matthew J. and Flora (St. Jean) Comiskey and was raised in Danvers, MA. He graduated from Salem Vocational High School and served as Class President of the Class of 1948. Peter went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska and California and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1954.
Following his honorable discharge, Peter pursued various interests. He lost his right arm in an industrial accident while still living in California and after which he returned home to New England. Peter would joke that he left a little part of himself in California. Peter then went on to graduate from Vesper George School of Art in Boston in 1960 and opened an art studio in his home in Haverhill.
Peter met and married the love of his life, Jeanne F. (Morin) Comiskey, with whom he had just celebrated fifty-one years of marriage.
Peter was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. James Parish in Haverhill, MA, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He worked for the City of Haverhill for over thirty years and retired from the Department of Public Works.
Peter loved art, history, live music, watching sports, and traveling. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Even with various health concerns, Peter's upbeat attitude never faltered. He loved life and looked forward to the next adventure that each day would bring.
He leaves his wife, Jeanne, five children, a son, Scott Comiskey and his wife Deborah, four daughters, Michele and her husband Dennis Lucey, Lisa and her husband Brian Gage, Holly and her husband John Derek, and Beth and her husband Robert Quigley, eight grandchildren, Michael (Miller) Comiskey, Mindi Comiskey, Troy Comiskey, Keith Lucey, Heather Quigley, Megan Lucey, Mathilda Derek, and Hannah Derek, and several nieces and nephews.
