Peter Andrew Bernardin

Peter A. Bernardin, Commander US Navy (Ret) died February 21, 2022 from complications of ALS.  Pete was born in 1933 in Lawrence Massachusetts to Leo Bernardin and Lucille (Monette) Bernardin.  He became fascinated by aviation at an early age and upon graduation from Merrimack College became a Naval Cadet in 1953.  He had a distinguished Naval career for 27 years and upon retirement was hired as a chief Pilot for the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation and later The Boeing Company.  He retired in 2001.  Known for his warmth and congeniality, Pete will also be remembered for his generosity as a volunteer with The Flying Samaritans and Angel Flight organizations.  Pete is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, sons and their spouses: Peter D. (Helen), Jeffrey (Denise) and James (Lisa), along with his grandchildren, Elise, Claire, Brianna, Wyeth, Bryson and great grandchild William.  A family interment service will be held Friday, April 8th, 9 a.m. at  Forest Lawn Cypress, Columbarium of Ascension, 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress California.
