Penny Roach Hand

Penny Roach Hand, age 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at home in Joshua Tree, CA. She was the widow of Kurt Macholtz.

Penny was born in the City of Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Alva Brewer Seitz and Hal Roach, Jr. She attended undergraduate school at the University of Southern California and received her law degree at West Los Angeles Law School in 1991. She was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance as an attorney for many years.

She was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous having 47 years of sobriety. She was a friend and sponsor to hundreds of newly sober alcoholics over the years and was instrumental in helping them in their sobriety and in working the 12-step program. She loved her horses (Shadow and Daisy), and her dogs and cats.

She is survived by her two sons, William B. Hand and William S. Christensen, and six grandchildren.

The funeral and graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, California in the Little Church of Flowers.
