It is with deep love and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, who left us peacefully at the age of 85, only 21 days before his 86th birthday. Born in 1939 in Bataan, Philippines, just before the world was reshaped by war, he grew up during a time of profound uncertainty and resilience. Despite the challenges of his early years, he found joy in family and friends. He was the beloved younger brother to Amparo and a caring uncle to five nephews and one niece.
In 1967, he married his wife, Constancia, and together they began building their family. As a young man, he worked at the U.S. Naval Base and for Planters in the Philippines, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on new challenges. He later worked aboard an oil ship based in Denmark, and traveled back and forth to Lagos, Nigeria, broadening his experiences and deepening his appreciation for the people he met, including the community of Filipinos in both countries.
In the 1980s, he eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he worked and retired from Conoco Phillips oil refinery in Wilmington, California. There, as in every place he lived, he built lasting friendships. He had a gift for connecting with others; he was easygoing, friendly, and well liked by everyone who crossed his path.
Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his six children, two sons and four daughters, and two grandkids. His journey spanned continents and cultures, but his heart was always with his family, relatives, and community.
He will be deeply missed and remembered warmly.
