Pedro Carmona Vera, 95, was born on May 24, 1921 in Jalisco, MX., and passed away on April 12, 2017. He was a resident of Indio, CA., at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Coachella, CA.
Pedro Carmona Vera, 95, was born on May 24, 1921 in San Jose de Gracia, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 12, 2017 in Palm Desert, CA. He married Albina Gomez on December 28, 1943 in Tepatitlan, Jalisco. Pedro was part of the 'Bracero' work program in California from 1949-1964, after his contract he returned to Tepatitlan where he and his wife resided with their 7 children until the family immigrated to California permanently on January 6, 1966. Pedro followed many harvesting seasons in California before finally settling with his family in the Coachella Valley in 1968 where he worked mainly for date palm growers and harvesters until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Albina Gomez Carmona of Indio, his 7 children: Maria del Refugio Marron, Clementina Olloque and Maria de Jesus Hassan all of Coachella and Francisco Carmona, Jose Carmona, Martha Aleman and Miguel Carmona all of Indio. Pedro is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, most of whom affectionately called him "Wili". Pedro's family would like to thank the entire staff at Monterey Palms Health for the care and attention they gave him over the last year. Pedro was a man of faith who was truly faithful to the Virgen del Carmen and he prayed the rosary every day. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with a rosary at 6:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 51990 Jackson Street, Coachella, CA. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church, 52555 Oasis Palms Ave., Coachella, CA. Interment will follow at Coachella Valley Cemetery immediately after.
