Paula May Pence

November 12, 1949 — May 6, 2018

Paula was born in Eugene, Oregon to Ralph and Virginia Sloan on November 12, 1949. She had one older brother, Jerry Sloan. Paula spent most of her childhood in in Compton, CA, and she graduated from Dominguez High School.

Paula was by profession a real estate appraiser. She worked for Bank of America for 28 years. While at Bank of America, she met her best friend KC Balew. After Bank of America, she worked for Nationwide Mortgage as a Review Appraiser until retirement.

Paula was married to Richard Fisher when she was 20 and welcomed her son Richard just after her 21st birthday. Paula and Richard, Sr. went their separate ways after about six years of marriage. She was a single mom for a while before she met and married Anthony (Tony) Caneja. She and Tony enjoyed 21 years together before he passed away from cancer in June of 2000. She reconnected with George Pence in 2001. They had known each other for years since they were in the same industry. They dated for about four years until they were married in 2005. George retired in 2011 and that allowed Paula and he to enjoy seven years of retirement together.

In 2015, Paula was diagnosed with heart failure. She was able to enjoy a full life after that, but her condition got progressively worse. Her health took a significant turn over the last few weeks leading to heart bypass surgery. She never fully recovered from that surgery, and passed away on May 6, 2018.

Paula enjoyed reading, travel, and her hobbies. Most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved being a grandmother to her grandsons Jordan, Dakota, and Zachary Fisher. Paula was loving, kind, fun to be with, and easy going. She was supportive, accepting, and encouraging to others.

Paula left an overwhelmingly positive legacy to her family, friends, and anyone who had the good fortune of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.
