Paula Juarez Alonzo, 92, a longtime resident of Mecca, California, passed away on April 29th, 2022 in Rancho Mirage. She was born on April 2nd, 1930 in Thermal, California to Seberiano Alvarado Juarez and Petra Segura Juarez. Paula was the fifth child of fourteen and was always proud of being part of the Juarez family.
She attended Mecca School from 1936-1945. During her time at Mecca School the school was composed of 3 classrooms where all grades from Kinder to eighth attended together. After her time spent at Mecca School, she attended Coachella Valley High School where she completed her Junior year.
As always, she was a dedicated and hard-working woman, in 1947 she worked at the Mecca Date Garden as a packer alongside her sister-in-law Lupe Juarez. Then, in the 1970's she worked at the Engine Ignite Plant. She then went on to work at the Nutritional Food Products Cereal Factory known for making Kashi cereal; puffed corn was a family favorite. Paula worked alongside the owner Bill Warden, when the factory had just opened and stayed until her retirement in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Martinez Alonzo. Paula is survived by her sisters and brothers: Lupe Saldivar of Indio, Bertha Smith of Indio,CA, Rosalina Martinez of Indio,CA, Michael Juarez of Torrance,CA, David Juarez of Corona,CA, and Severiano "Junior" Juarez of Indio; her children: Fernando Alonzo (Emma) of Colorado Springs, CO, Elena Alonzo of Mecca, CA, Arturo Alonzo of Mecca, CA, Amelia Alonzo Noyola of Coachella, CA, and Esteban Alonzo (Antonia) of Lake Elsinore, CA; 12 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was an amazing, loving, strong woman who will be thought about often. A true pillar of strength and wisdom.

Paula Juárez Alonzo, 92, de Mecca, California, falleció el 29 de abril de 2022 en Rancho Mirage. Ella nació el 2 de abril de 1930 en Thermal, California, a padres Serberiano Alvarado Juarez y Petra Segura Juarez. Paula era la quinta de catorce hermanos.
Ella asistió a la Escuela de Mecca de 1936-1945. Durante esta época la escuela de Mecca solo contenía tres salones en donde grados kinder hasta octavo aprendieron juntos.​​Después del tiempo que pasó en la Escuela Mecca, asistió a la Escuela Secundaria Coachella Valley, donde completó su tercer año de preparatoria.
Fue muy dedicada y gran trabajadora, en 1947 empezó a trabajar en Mecca Date Garden como empacadora con su cuñada Lupe Juarez. Durante 1970, trabajó en Engine Ignite Plant. Después trabajó en Nutritional Food Products Cereal Factory. Le tocó a Paula trabajar junto al dueño Bill Warden cuando la factoría fue recién abierta. Se quedó trabajando en la factoría hasta que se jubiló en 1995.
Le precedieron en muerte su esposo Antonio Martínez Alonzo. Le sobreviven hermanos: Lupe Saldívar de Indio CA, Bertha Smith de Indio CA, Rosalina Martínez de Indio CA, Michael Juárez de Torrance, CA, David Juárez de Corona, CA y Severiano "Junior" Juárez de Indio CA; sus hijos: Fernando Alonzo (Emma) de Colorado Springs,CO, Elena Alonzo de Mecca, CA, Arturo Alonzo de Mecca, CA, Amelia Alonzo Noyola de Coachella, CA y Esteban Alonzo (Antonia) de Lake Elsinore, CA, 12 nietos; 15 bisnietos; y 1 tataranieto. Era una mujer increíble, cariñosa y fuerte en la que se pensará a menudo.Un verdadero pilar de fuerza.
