Paul Munz

On February 25^th, 2023, Paul E. Munz lost his fight with a long time illness. He fought like a warrior for four years to stay with his family, family of friends and animals.

His first time away from his home in Redhook, New York, was to join the US Navy in 1964. He proudly served four years active duty, two tours of Vietnam as a Machinist Mate, MM2, aboard the destroyer USS A J Isbell. Paul's 37-year career with the City of Los Angeles gave him opportunities to spread his love of life, sense of humor, abilities and work ethic. This beautiful City of Angels also gave him a list of loved and respected friends that he always held in his heart.

Paul was a deeply loved and devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, Sandy; a proud and loving father to his son, Paul Michael; and daughter-in-law, Aydde. He and his family shared a deep love and never missed an opportunity to say "I love you."  His family was his life. He gave us not just commitment and trust but joy, laughter, tears and a strong unbendable knowledge that we always came first. He also leaves behind a brother, Frank Munz; and nephew, Jason, both of Hudson, New York.

Paul was truly a cowboy at heart and lover of animals, especially his dog, Kate; horse, Chili; and Raven. His friends will remember Paul for his cowboy hat and boots, his cowboy hard hat, his selfless ways, easy smile and laughter. Saying he’ll be missed just doesn’t say enough……

Since Paul never met a dog he didn’t like, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Paul's name to K9s For Warriors, an organization that pairs rescued dogs with military veterans, men and women that are in need of that unique relationship that only a dog can provide.

Pauls Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills

Friday, March 31st, 2023 at 12:30 in the Church of the Hills.

Pauls Honor Guard Ceremony and final resting place will be National Cemetary, 950 S. Sepulveda, Los Angeles, April 28th at 1:00 PM

K9s For Warriors is ending veteran suicide and returning our warriors to a life of dignity and independence. We rescue and train shelter dogs to be paired as Service Dogs for warriors with service-connected Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Military Sexual Trauma.
