Patsy Ann Gentner

January 16, 1935 — November 19, 2014

Always be a place for people to go and an ear for people to talk to. That is the way Patsy Ann Gentner (Wren) lived her near 80 years of life. Known best as the cousin/aunt/grandma/neighbor/friend you once lived with, Pat made her mark on the world by being "like a mother" to many, As well as being a substitute mom to numerous people, she was a loving, caring, present mother to her own four children, a devoted wife of 52 years, and a wonderful grandmother to 7 and great-grandmother to 9.

An avid letter writer, Pat will be greatly missed by the childhood friends, cousins, and even ex's of relatives that she kept in contact with over decades...despite sometimes being 4 states away. The residents of Las Mariposas will miss the coffee breaks, sitting and chatting with Pat (often for hours at a time) and learning valuable lessons and life histories.

To her family, Pat was a rock. A pillar. A foundation upon which all subsequent generations were built. She and Joe had a marriage to be modeled after, and they inspired many others to marital success with their advice to "never go to bed angry" and to "always say I love you." Pat always gave her honest opinion and advice and was always willing to help however she could.

Pat is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that she cherished and talked about to all that would listen: Joseph (wife, Linda; sons, John and Judd; grandchildren, Eric Sarah, Nate, Evan, and Cara); Linda (husband, Larry; sons, Larry (Scott) and Chris; grandchildren, Zakk and Dana); Chris (wife, Kim; children, Jeffrey and Jamie; grandsons, Allen and Landon); granddaughter, Kayla; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Pat is reunited with her husband, best friend, and favorite debate partner, Joseph George Gentner; her three siblings and partners in crime, Evelyn, Mildred, and Billy; and her adoring parents, Johnnie and Faye.

Services will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress on Monday, November 24th at 2:30pm, immediately followed by a reception at Las Mariposas Apartments.
