Patrick Anthony Nelson
May 5, 1957 — September 21, 2025
Patrick Anthony Nelson, the youngest of five siblings, was born on May 5, 1957, to the late William and Martha Nelson and was cared for by his maternal grandmother, Erlinda Haney, in a home that valued faith, family, and hard work. A proud graduate of Palm Springs High School, Patrick was a Coachella Valley local for over 60 years, deeply connected to the community he loved.
On December 18, 1982, Patrick married his best friend and the love of his life, Mary Esther Nelson. He was a doting husband, and together they built a life full of faith, family, and love. They loved to travel and often hosted family and friends on their patio, creating a welcoming home filled with laughter, conversation, and prayer.
Patrick was a devoted father to Naomi Nelson and Terra Nelson, and a proud grandfather to Posey Grace Nelson. He guided his daughters with love, teaching them to ski, ride bikes, drive, and, most importantly, to show kindness and generosity to everyone they met. He coached sports teams, chauffeured his daughters to countless practices and games, and consistently demonstrated humility, integrity, and unwavering support. His example shaped not only his family but all who knew him.
Patrick worked as an electrician for over 50 years and was a mentor to many. He worked hard, cared for others, and was loved by everyone in the community. Known for his kind heart and gentle humor, he made everyone feel valued.
Patrick’s life was defined by faith, family, and service. He brought joy, compassion, and love into every room he entered. His legacy of devotion, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The sweetest years of Patrick’s life were spent being “Tata” to his granddaughter, Posey Grace Nelson. The two were inseparable, often partners in crime, known for sneaking away to Trader Joe’s or 7/11 for a sweet treat. Their bond brought him endless joy and laughter, and Posey Grace Nelson will forever carry the love and memories they shared.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Esther Nelson; his daughters, Naomi Nelson and Terra Nelson; his granddaughter, Posey Grace Nelson; his living siblings, Loreeallee Potter, William (Billy) Nelson, and Michael Nelson; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kunney and Sheila Kato, Janie and Ruben Garcia; his nieces and nephews, Kaysha Kato, Aliya, Ella, and Jonah Garcia; and other cherished family and friends, including Dawn McConnell, Theresa McConnell, Jamie McConnell, Kayla Peetz and Anthony Nelson, Jill Daluz, Jim Potter, Jeanine Graykowski, Julie Whalen, Jeff Potter, and Jennifer Potter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Nelson; his brother, Jim McConnel; his parents-in-law, Josepha and Kunney Kato; his nephew, Eric Nelson; and his grandmother, Erlinda Haney.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, please consider praying the Holy Rosary in honor of Patrick, with the intention of bringing peace to our world. JMJ
