Patricia Miller

April 15, 1926 — May 21, 2024

Patricia (Pat) Jane Miller, 98, was born in Glendale, California on April 15, 1926 and died May 21, 2024 in La Crescenta, California.  She leaves behind a a family who loved her and will miss her, including her three sons, Doug (Patti), Mike (Judy), and Mark (Linda), her sister, Mary, seven grandchildren: Jennie, Brett, Aaron, Collin, Matt, Lindsay and Molly. and ten great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William (Bill) Miller. her parents, Thelma Eulalia and James D. Johnson, and her sister, Collette.

Pat grew up in Glendale and graduated from Glendale H.S. in 1943.  While her fiancé, Bill, was serving in the army air corps as a co-pilot of a B-17, she worked as a stenographer. When he was shot down in 1944, she waited for word, and was finally notified that Bill was injured but safe in a prisoner of war camp.  He was liberated by Patton's 3rd army, and they married on August 11,1945 in Glendale.

William Douglas and Richard Michael were born in Glendale, and soon the family moved to Perryton,Texas in order to own and manage an automobile dealership with Pat's father.  Bill switched to the life insurance business and the family moved several more times; to Lubbock, Beaumont and finally to Houston, where Mark Steven was born.  After 9 years in Texas, Bill's company opened an office in California and the family moved back to Southern California, settling in La Crescenta.

Patricia worked at home, raising her three boys, and when they were in high school she went back to work part-time in retail, and later in medical records and scheduling. She enjoyed working and continued into her 80's doing payroll for her son's dental offices.  She enjoyed friends, traveling, playing bridge with neighbors and anything that involved her family. After retirement, She and Bill bought a beautiful house on a golf course in Palm Springs, California, where they often entertained family and friends. She and Bill loved being with their sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and  great-grandchildren, and enjoyed the many times they would visit in Palm Springs.

In March of 2012, Bill died and Pat moved to Santa Clarita to be close to her son, Mark and his wife, Linda.  She enjoyed her life in Santa Clarita. She missed the wonderful times in Palm Springs, but she made many friends in her 55+ apartment complex, even though she was the oldest resident there. In May of 2023 after several severe falls, she moved into her oldest son's home.  Doug and his wife, Patti, cared for her until her death.

A memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22nd.  A reception at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, California will follow the service.
