On Friday January 4th, 2019 Patricia Ann Hawkins (Foti), loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 87. Patsy was born August 5th, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI, to Giuseppe (Joe) Foti and Maria (Mary Paterniti-Struzzo). She graduated from El Monte High in 1948. Pat worked for Allstate Insurance as an office manager, eventually becoming their first female supervisor. On July 18, 1959 she married GySgt Warren Hawkins and moved with her family to the Sierra Nevada mountains, Alexandria, VA, and eventually returned to Orange, CA where they raised their three sons. She returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper for a small business and eventually became a writer and editor for Comarco, Inc. developing technical manuals. In her private life, she was an avid bird watcher and an accomplished knitter, crocheter, and painter. From childhood Pat was a voracious reader and was known to share bags of books with a group of women that also lived on Milford Rd. in Orange, CA. In 1985 Pat and Warren retired to Erwin Lake, CA where she worked at McGrath Escrow as an office manager. After a few years of becoming a widow she moved to Seal Beach, CA where she became active with her family and enjoyed activities like Bunco and community bingo. She was proudly independent and kept her driving privileges right up to her recent hospitalization. Pat barely tolerated pets, so naturally her husband and sons had a menagerie of animals, including dogs, cats, rats, and a tortoise. Her sons, Joe (Oak Harbor, WA), Eric (Orange,CA), and Mike (Solon, OH); her granddaughters, Jessica (Orange, CA), Megan (Sagamore Hills, OH), and Michelle (Sagamore Hills, OH); as well as her siblings Diana, Karen, Carmy, and Steve will be gathering for an informal Celebration of Life on Saturday January 26th, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm. The celebration will be held at Leisure World Community Center in Seal Beach, CA at Clubhouse 3, Room 2. Friends and family are invited. Burial will be in a private ceremony on January 28th at Riverside National Cemetery where she will be joining her husband of 47 years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Audubon Society in her name.
