Patricia Dault

September 19, 1950 — March 19, 2023

Farmington, MN

Patricia (Patty) Jo Dault, 72, born on September 19, 1950, in International Falls, MN, passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2023 at her winter home in Thousand Palms, CA. She primarily resided in Farmington, MN at the time of her passing.

Patty was the second daughter of Donald “Butch” and Harriet (Gordon) Dault, and third of nine children. She was born with a wry neck (torticollis syndrome), but that didn’t prevent her from having a normal childhood. As a child she had corrective surgery in Minneapolis. She graduated from Falls High School in 1968. After high school graduation, she moved to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. This became her home for the remainder of her life, but she kept close ties with her parents and family that were spread out between International Falls and the Twin Cities areas. She spent most of her career at the State of Minnesota’s Health and Human Services in St. Paul where she worked with medical claims. She retired in 2015.

When she was 35, she found love with Thomas Beauchane and they married in 1985. She never had kids of her own, but became a caring step-parent to Laura, Leia and Louis and treated them as her own. Patty and Thom moved from Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center to be closer to the kids, where they lived with their mom. At various times in their school years, the three of them lived with Patty and Thom in Brooklyn Center, MN and then in Farmington, MN when they built a new home in 1995. The kids remember many trips “up north” to International Falls to visit for holidays and events with the Dault family, playing card games at home on Friday nights and homecooked meals. After 33 years of marriage, Patty and Thom divorced in 2019. She remained in Farmington after their divorce.

Patty enjoyed crafts, including sewing, crochet and cross-stitch over the years, but her true passion was quilting. She took her first quilting class in the late-1990s and never looked back. She loved floral patterns, anything pink and beautiful fabrics, but would love more to make quilts of any theme for family and friends.

She had a great love of life, fun and adventure, as long as it wasn’t playing sports. She would go almost anywhere that a friend or one of the kids asked her to go, sometimes on short notice. She had some luck with occasional trips to casino slot machines, especially when she was traveling. Patty enjoyed the company of friends at the senior center and was making new friends at her condo in Farmington. She traveled to visit and take care of grandkids and was an easy-going and supportive grandparent to all of them. In her retirement years, she spent winters in southern California where she enjoyed warmth and sunshine, day trips to Mexico and around the region, playing cards and socializing with friends and family. Her laugh and easy-going nature will be missed by all who knew her.

Patty is survived by her stepchildren, Laura (Nathan) Edwards, Leia (Bryan) Richter, and Louis (Krystal) Beauchane. Her “grandchildren” are Juliann Beauchane, Ginger Espe, Levi Edwards, Cody Edwards, Sydney Beauchane, Stella Beauchane, Kelsi Beauchane, Matthew Richter and Sally Richter. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Asher and Greyson. Patty is also survived by her eight siblings, Jean Dault, Gordy (Kathy) Dault, Doug (Brenda) Dault, David (Sandy) Dault, Robert (Mary Ellen Kennedy) Dault, Kevin Dault, Susie Hoffman, and Sarah (Mitchell) Bennis. She has also left behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on May 20, 2023 at the Steeple Center in Rosemount, MN. Program will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon.
