Patricia Crawford

December 27, 1946 — October 22, 2023

Patricia Anne (Cooney) Crawford was born in Lynwood, CA December 27, 1946 to John and Louise Cooney.

She attended California State University, Long Beach graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in English Literature. In 1969 she married William John Crawford, Jr. who was enlisted in the US Army and shortly thereafter they were stationed in Grafenwøehr, Germany which sparked mom's life long love for travel. When dad was deployed to Vietnam she began working at Buffum's Department store as a copy writer. Her love of writing and literature lasted a lifetime as she later essays and poems and wrote screenplays. She then added her talents to marketing for the Laguna Hills Lodge.

She and William had two children, whom they made a loving home for. Whether it was helping with homework, cheering on kids activities, or being home base for her kids friends, she made home the place to be. Holidays were always made special and long, slow summers were relished especially during her favorite holiday, the 4th of July and the annual family trips to the Alisal Guest Ranch. She taught her children the value of family, honesty and responsibility and always led by example. She was free with hugs or an Eich Liebe Dich to let us know how much she loved us. Patricia was the consummate hostess and made everyone who came to her home feel like a treasured guest. She was active in the community spending many years volunteering with the Junior League of Long Beach and the Long Beach Symphony.

Mom was larger than life with a spirit that was infectious. Her force of energy brought joy to all around her and she embraced life with a positivity that was inspirational. She had impeccable style and always would accessorize with large distinctive earrings, her favorite color red, and of course polka dots. She had a love for games and whether it was playing Bridge, Poker, or Mahjong, relished the strategy....and of course the win!

Patricia passed away peacefully on Sunday October 22, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Bill Crawford, her children: Amy (Brian) Ray, Bill (Christy) Crawford, her Grandchildren: Rhiannon (22), Charles (20), Katelyn (18) and Madeline (15), and her Brother Dan Cooney. Services will be on November 8, 2023 at St. Joseph's Parish in Long Beach at 10 am, A private internment followed at Forest Lawn of Long Beach. A celebration of life will be held at the Crawford Residence after services.
