Osie M. Perkins

Osie Perkins was born on January 17, 1917, in Lake Charles, LA. She was the only child born to Arthur & Edna Smith; a few years later, they moved to Houston, TX. On Sept. 13, 1947, Osie married George Perkins; they remained married until his passing, for 36 years.

Osie had a strong belief in God. She loved to trave. She was always looking for a Las Vegas turn-around! She also loved to cook and entertain. If anyone came to visit her, the first thing she'd do was offer to cook something for them to eat. Her other passsions included crotchet, shopping & last but not least, dancing; even when she could no longer walk, if she heard a song that she liked, she'd start dancing while seated in her wheelchair!

Osie Perkins passed away on April 23, 2012, and is now dancing with George and all the Angels in Heaven. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Trephena Perkins, Grandchildren: Taylor Young, Tristan Young, Mychael Scott, Phallen Gaskin & Asante Gaskin; Great-Grandchildren: Jaiden, Asanie & Kaylonni; Extended Family: Greg Gaskin, Neil Daniels, Anita Grant, Sonja Daniels, Dorothy Seals, Kamau Daniels; Cousins: Geneve Smith-McNeal & Virgie Hankins; "Adopted Granchildren"-too many to name and a hose of friends and loved ones.
