Orlando Mangligot Castellano

February 9, 1940 — September 8, 2017

Orlando Mangligot Castellano, also known as Lolo Pogi to his grandchildren, passed away on September 8, 2017 at home with his family by his side in Lake Forest, California. He was 77 years old.

Born on February 9, 1940 to Lourdes and Gregorio Castellano in Sanchez Mira Cagayan, Philippines, Orlando was the oldest of 6 children. He received a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering and Reserved Officer Training Course from Central Luzon State University. Orlando chose the military route and went up the ranks to become a full pledged Colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines where he served for 34 years. With Dennie Castellano, his 'Abay' and wife of almost 50 years, they worked tirelessly to give their children the best education possible. When Orlando retired in 1996, he moved to California to join his family. Orlando loved spending time with his family and was known to be the Patriarch of the Castellano and Mangligot family. Orlando touched so many lives with his generosity, kindness, and love. He believed in education, respect, loyalty, and perseverance. Orlando instilled these values to his 3 children who will be forever grateful for the sacrifices he made to provide them with a better life and greater opportunities.

Orlando held many roles which included husband, father, grandfather, son, Manong, Ninong, uncle, and friend. He wore these titles proudly and will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him.

Orlando is survived by his wife, Dennie; his children: Romel and Jannet, Maureen and Alex Dilao, and Rowena Castellano; and his 4 grandchildren: Lizzie, Diego, Lulu Dilao, and Stephanie Castellano.
