Orlando Cabula, age 87, of Cerritos, California passed away peacefully with his wife and children at bedside on Friday, August 2, 2024. On August 27, 1936, Florencio Cabula and Agustina Cabula gave birth to Orlando at San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. He was the first of two children. Orlando attended high school at St. Joseph's School in San Jose City, graduating in 1953. From there, he attended Far Eastern University, Institute of Medicine, in Manila, graduating and receiving his MD degree in 1962. On September 2, 1961, Orlando married his sweetheart, Rosita Serdenia, and had four children: Jerrilynn, John, Valerie, and Rosalynn. Orlando was a role model to his children and his son-in-laws, Raymundo, Fred and Dennis. Orlando was a doting grandfather, who was known as "papa" to his thirteen grandchildren: Vanessa, Daysy, Ray, Joshua, Jazlyn, Kahuna, Meila, Cedric, Derrick, Brooklyn, Aubrey, Dean, Caelyn and his great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose. Orlando was dedicated to his family. Spending quality time with his wife and children was a priority that meant more to him than anything, including his career. He treated everyone the same regardless of economic or social status. He had a life full of love and laughter and shared many words of wisdom. Orlando loved music and singing, and he shared his gift of song often at family gatherings. His go to songs were "My Way", "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and "I'm Walking Behind You", among so many other songs. Orlando retired as a Physician Specialist in Pulmonary Disease at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in 1996. Orlando will be missed and remembered as a humble man, a good provider, a supportive husband, a patient and understanding father, and an inspiration to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
