Ophelia "Jean" Smith

Ophelia "Jean" Smith, 93, of Indio, Calif. passed away June 1, 2016 in La Quinta, Calif. of natural causes. She was born January 25, 1923 to Louis Duarte and Eduarda Mendez in Phoenix, Ariz. She Married Roy Conrad "Connie" Smith on February 11, 1949 in Indio. She was a secretary for the Employment Development Department in Indio for over thirty years. She is survived by her granddaughters, Melanie Steinmetz, and Kristina Razo; grandson, Brian Conrad Smith; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Miles Magana, Haley and Hanna Steinmetz, Frankie Razo Jr; and great niece, Renne Shaffar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Conrad Smith and her son, Michael Conrad Smith. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Mortuary Chapel at Forest Lawn Indio followed by interment at Coachella Valley Cemetery in Coachella, Calif. Forest Lawn Indio is in charge of arrangements.
