Olive B. (Duchemin) Pitkin, 81, died February 21, 2012 at Prescott House in North Andover.

Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Oliver and Wilhelmina (William) Duchemin, she was educated in Haverhill schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1948.

Mrs. Pitkin was first employed in the local shoe industry and later worked over twenty years at Western Electric Co. and A T & T Technologies until her retirement in 1982.

A member of the Atkinson Congregational Church, the Atkinson Historical Society, The Telephone Pioneers of America, the CWA Retirees Club and the VFW Auxiliary of Kingston, Mrs. Pitkin enjoyed ceramics and gardening. She also ran a catering business and was well known in the area for the many wedding cakes that she made and decorated.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Frederick E. Pitkin, a son Frederick E. Pitkin,Jr. of Newburyport, a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Jean and Jay McCulloch of Georges Mills, NH, a brother Edgar Duchemin of Haverhill, three sisters, Gloria Beaupre of Merrimac, Ella Jones of Haverhill, and Margaret Driscoll of Haverhill, two grand-daughters, Stephanie Tessier of Epping, NH, and Florence Keir-Pitkin of Crawford Notch, two great-grandchildren, Molly and Zachary Tessier, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Duchemin and a sister Elizabeth Palermo.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 1p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial service will take place in Atkinson Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or The American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, Suite 501, Boston, MA  02210.
