Norman Stoehr

Palm Springs, CA – Norman James Stoehr, age 84, passed away on July 30, 2026, at his villa in Cathedral City, CA.

Norm was born on November 27, 1941, in Moline, Illinois, to Robert and Rosalie Stoehr. He graduated from Moline High School, earned a BS in Construction Management from Bradley University and an MBA from the University of Illinois.

Norm had many occupations and successful careers throughout his life. He was a construction manager, real estate developer, restaurant owner, motivational speaker and financial negotiator. His professional expertise included Entrepreneurship, Business Strategy, Marketing and Business Development.

Outside of work, Norm was an avid golfer, fitness enthusiast and a triathlete. He even conquered an Iron Man!

In 2000, Norm purchased his first property in Palm Springs, CA, which would lead to a new-found love for the desert region and associated activities. While he still had deep roots in Minneapolis, Norm greatly enjoyed the warm weather, challenging golf courses and many new friends he made in the Palm Springs area. He loved his favorite restaurants and local watering holes, where he was often known as a “regular.” He was immediately recognizable, always outgoing, often engaging and his friendly banter was welcomed whenever he entered a room.

In recent years, Norm embraced new technology and was always the first to own a new cell phone, laptop computer, stylish golf cart or advanced electric vehicle. He was famous for sharing his Tesla videos with friends and family alike.

Norm loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He often shared his sharp wit and learned wisdom, even writing a short book entitled “Grandpa Norm’s Tiny Graduation Book- Welcome to Real Life!” in which Norm stressed his core values of freedom, independence, autonomy and veracity.

He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Wedra (Art) Moline, IL; children, Valerie Stoehr (Michael) Akron, OH, Melanie McKean (Chuck) Manlius, NY, Tiffany Brooks (Craig) El Segundo, CA, and Carie Anderson (Kevin McKiernan) Schenectady, NY; his grandchildren, Alexandra Marie, Rachel Elaine, Rexton Charles, Carson S, Logan B, Brody C, Townes Padraig, Gavin Anthony, and Marcella Grace; and a great grandchild, Sterling Quentin.

Norm lovingly spent the last 10+ years with Cate Rinaldo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Stoehr and Rosalie Williams Stoehr; and his brother, Jerry Stoehr.

Cremation rites have been scheduled and a celebration will be held in the summer of 2027 in Minneapolis.
