Norman Francis, Sr.

Norman Francis, Sr., 79, born on September 21, 1933 in New Orleans, LA passed away June 13, 2013. He resided in Downey, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.

Norman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Manuel and Lovinia Francis on September 21, 1933. He attended High School at Walter L. Cohen High School. Following his graduation from high school, he served two years in the U.S. Army. Upon completing his military service, he attended Southern University, where he earned a BA degree in Education.

Norman began his teaching career in Louisiana. In 1973, he acquired a teaching position with the Los Angeles Unified School District, in California. He moved his family to California, shortly there after. He taught for 30+ years, serving the bulk of his career at Los Angeles High School and Jefferson High School.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Debra; his three brothers Manuel Jr., Herbert, Lloyd; and his four sisters Katie, Helen, Evelyn and Mary.

Norman is survived by his loving wife Edna G. Francis; brother Melvin Sr.; daughters Evangeline and Sabrina; son Norman Jr.; and a host of grand children, great grand children, and other family members.
