Norman Ngaiman Au graduated from this world on May 24, 2023 at the age of 94.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Encino, California in the company of his two sons, Phillip and Clarence, along with his daughter-in-love (law) Thelma.

He was born in Hong Kong on July 8, 1928, to parents James O’ Chew and Siu-Laan Ma.  He was the 6th of 8 children, named  Waiman, Kitman, Chungman, Hinman, Yinman, Ngaiman (Norman), Sauman and Kinman (Kenneth).

Norman’s career spanned 40 years in the aeronautical engineering field.  While he pioneered many principles and applications in the field of Fracture Mechanics, and won many awards during his employment at Aerospace Corporation, he is particularly proud of breaking the glass ceiling for Asian Americans in technical management positions.
