Norma Tanner Butler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born in Los Angeles, California on October 17, 1929 to Rollin and Anna Tanner. Norma was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and later moved to Southern California. She attended North Phoenix High School, Brigham Young University, Arizona State University, and graduated from Phoenix College. She was a very distinguished business woman, raising five children as a single-mom, while successfully building her career. She started a travel agency in 1972 and then went to work for Equitable Life Insurance in 1975. She remained at Equitable until her retirement in 1995. She was a high producer and was a member of Equitable's Women's Round Table that supported women and working in insurance. Norma was an active member of the LDS church and held many positions serving others throughout her life. She was sealed to Donald Butler on January 14, 1983 in the Mesa Arizona Temple, enjoying many wonderful years together. Norma loved the ocean and spent as much time as she could near the beach. She and Don also loved traveling all over the world and enjoyed the various cultures, sights, and history of their destinations. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her beloved dog, Muffin. Norma is survived by her husband Donald Butler, her children Jack Woolley, Jill Yacobucci, Geoff Woolley, Julianna Meiner, and Jay (Rachelle) Woolley, her 29 grandchildren, and her 31 great-grandchildren. Norma is preceded in death by her parents Rollin and Anna, sister Louise, and three brothers, Maurice, Steve, and John. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale California. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
