Nino Dompe

Nino Dompe passed peacefully on Jan 17,2018 in Glendale, CA. He was 104. He was born Simone Dompe but quickly changed his name to Nino. He was born in Walnut, CA on Nov 13,1913 one of 5 children to Margherita Visio Dompe and Dominico Dompe. At 7 the family returned to Fossano, Italy but at 17 Nino came back to the US. On Aug 15,1936 he married Adeline Benetti and they were married for 70 years. They had 4 children Mary, Dominic, Leo, and Christina. He was preceded by Adeline and Dominic. He is survived by Leo and wife Joyce of Carlsbad,CA and Christa Roberts of Malibu, CA, Lynn Dompe daughter in law of Los Angeles CA and sister Nucci Mozzo of Fossano Italy. He had 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and 1 gg grandchild.
A longtime resident of La Canada, he was a painting contractor. But in his free time he loved fishing, sports cars and he LOVED to play tennis and doubles with Adeline. In fact he celebrated his 100th birthday playing tennis with his Golden Boys at the Flintridge Canyon Tennis Club drinking champagne and being filmed for the evening news. He was a charmer with a true zest for life. His motto was Sempre Avanti .....always forward. Never look back. No regrets. A life well lived. Missed by all who knew him. His funeral will be at 11am on Sat Jan 27,2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montrose, CA. He will be buried at Forrest Lawn in Glendale, CA
