Nimfa was born November 10, 1951, in Penaranda, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She attended Penaranda Central Elementary School, Penaranda Provincial High School, and Philippines College of Commerce. She then moved to Caloocan City, Philippines where she worked at Telengtan as a clerk and met her husband, Martin. In 1979, she started her career at Asian Development Bank (ADB) where she spent 27 years of her career, from an entry level position then retiring as a Project Officer. Working at ADB gave her the opportunity to travel across Asia and Europe. Upon her retirement she moved to Diamond Bar, California in 2006, where her husband and daughters were living. She then ventured into a new career as a medical coder and worked at LAC+USC Medical Center.
Nimfa lived life in acts of kindness. She assisted many family members throughout her life and was committed to helping many people in her hometown, Penaranda. Nimfa frequently contributed to different churches and charitable organizations, notably supporting cancer research following her Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) diagnosis. A loyal, inquisitive, and loving human who will be dearly missed by the many lives she was fortunate enough to touch.
At age 72, Nimfa passed away on May 23, 2024 due to complications from MDS. Despite her diagnosis in 2016, she found strength in the support of her loved ones and the care provided by the medical team at City of Hope and her devoted daughters, Manilyn and Marinel, who accompanied her to treatments.
Nimfa is survived by her husband, Martin; daughters, Manilyn and Marinel; son-in-law, Sua; son-in-law-to-be, Carlos; grandbaby, Ian; grandfurbabies, Tommy, Lilo, and Pretzel; and siblings, Nomer, Norma, Nelia, and Nestor.
