Nilo Jude C. Miranda was born on December 26, 1965 in Pampanga, Philippines to his parents Danilo & Xcelsie Miranda. He is the eldest of four children. You may know him as Nilo but to his family and closest friends he's better known as "Don". At 10 years old, he moved to the US with his parents and siblings. He grew up in Cerritos, CA, where he attended Mary Bragg Elementary, Haskell Jr. High and Gahr High School. After high school pursued his degree in technology at Devry Institute.
Nilo always had a love for R&B and dance music. It was during high school that he found a passion for DJ'ing. Together with his friend, Odie Baret, came Sound Productions and from there was born DJ Knee Deep! Even from the beginning he had a way of bringing people together. He collaborated with other DJ groups to form United Kingdom. They generated a devoted local following and traveled together to do huge dance parties in different cities in SoCal. He is the main reason his siblings, nieces and nephews share the same passion for good music.
Nilo was also a huge car enthusiast… you could say he was a fanatic! He always had the most amazing cars. He didn't believe in the word "stock". It was like a project to him to build a car up from stock to "showroom ready." He had so much passion for the lifestyle that he co-founded Scion Evolution and represented Scion West. This was another instance where he brought people together through something he loved. He collaborated with other car enthusiasts and companies and arranged huge car meets for people that shared the same passion as him. His Scion Evolution team would travel to different cities and states to attend car expos. His own cars like his Scion XB and his Acura NSX were sponsored by different companies and would be showcased at these expos. If you were a car enthusiast, you knew who Nilo Miranda was!
Nilo put 100% in anything he did and he always had a positive outlook about everything, even his health. Nilo was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during his mid 20's. He received his first kidney transplant when he was in his 30's, and he was fortunate enough to receive a second transplant in his 40's. Even when he had to have dialysis he always kept a positive attitude and never let it stop him from doing what he loved most – being with family and friends and tending to the things he was passionate about. Those were the things that kept him going. Family was very important to him. He was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews. He spoiled them rotten like they were his own kids! He always shared his time with other family members by going camping, going overlanding, or just stopping by for a quick visit to show that he was thinking about them. When family and friends came into town he always made time for them. Nilo was a lifelong foodie and always knew just where to find "good eats", as he would say. He never let you go hungry and always made you feel special.
In October of 2020 he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. It's during this time that his health took a turn for the worse. Even then, he always stayed positive; he never let anyone know how much he was hurting or what he was going through. Nilo was a fighter! He had battled through many health issues and never once complained. He always took it like a warrior and always had a positive attitude. Nilo's strong relationship with God helped him through his toughest times. On March 23rd, surrounded by loved ones, Nilo took his last breath on Earth as God called him home to rest. Nilo was a loving son, brother, uncle, relative and friend. His spirit will live in our hearts forever, as will our memories of him. He will be missed greatly but he will NEVER be forgotten by all those he touched. Rest in heavenly peace, Nilo Jude C. Miranda.
