Nena Mendoza Reyes, a remarkable woman known for her kindness and strength passed away peacefully on August 17 2024, in Los Angeles, California. Born on December 28, 1932, Nena lived a life filled with love, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that touched the hearts of many.
Nena was a true embodiment of generosity and warmth. Her ability to make those around her feel welcomed and cared for was evident in every interaction. She was a strong and independent individual, who possessed a positively strong-willed nature. Her family remembers her not only as a mother and grandmother but also as a friend who always had a listening ear and a comforting presence.
Throughout her life, Nena found joy in simple pleasures. She had a passion for gardening, nurturing her plants with the same love she showed her family. Nena delighted in cooking traditional dishes, with her leche flan, lumpia, and embotido being family favorites that will long be cherished. Her interest in people watching and her trips to Las Vegas were also hallmarks of her lively spirit, showcasing her zest for life. She was known to enjoy the antics of Jerry Springer, often finding humor in the unconventional and entertaining.
Nena's legacy is profoundly defined by her proudest accomplishments: purchasing a home and raising a devoted family. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, often referring to them as her greatest treasures. Her love and guidance will continue to resonate through their lives.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Nenita Cuenca, and her five grandchildren: Josephine, Constantine, Jacqueline, Joceline, and Jeraldine Cuenca. Each of them carry forward the essence of her warmth and compassion, forever grateful for the time shared with such a remarkable matriarch.
Nena was preceded in death by her siblings, who have surely welcomed her with open arms: Concepcion, Bienveneda, Belen, Romulo, Orestes, Domingo, and Saring Reyes. Their bonds of family extend beyond life itself, creating a legacy of love that will be remembered.
Visitation will be held on September 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Glendale. A Funeral Service will follow on September 14, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Recessional, also at Forest Lawn - Glendale.
Nena Mendoza Reyes will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her kindness and strength have left a lasting imprint that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
