Nelson Salvador Parada, 57 years old, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at his home in Covina.
Nelson was born on May 20th, 1967 in El Salvador to Orbelina Parada and Eduardo Araujo, and was the fourth of five children. He came to the U.S. in 1982, at the age of fifteen. Nelson attended Belmont High School in Los Angeles. He completed his general education at Los Angeles City College and then transferred to California State University Los Angeles where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1997. During his studies he developed an interest in music. Nelson enjoyed playing the guitar during his free time. His favorite songs were from the 70’s and 80’s mostly in the rock and pop-rock genres.
Nelson worked for many different construction companies until he was accepted by Caltrans in 2000. He was a dedicated worker who studied for and earned his Professional Engineer license in 2001. He held a position as a resident engineer for many years and acting senior engineer for a few months. He planned to retire by the end of the present year.
Nelson was a home loving person; he liked to stay home and spend time with the family. Over the weekends he enjoyed “carne asada and music” and taking his dogs for a walk at the park who he loved dearly. Nelson was proactive father who spent a lot of his free time with his son. He coached his son to perfect his soccer skills, he taught his son how to read music, and he taught his son how to play piano as well. Nelson passed on his legacy to his son to follow.
Nelson is survived by his wife, son, brother, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews who revered him.
Nelson’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at the Glendale Forest Lawn. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Funeral service will be from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Church of the Recessional. 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale CA 91205

Nelson nació el 20 de mayo de 1967 en El Salvador, hijo de Orbelina Parada y Eduardo Araujo, y fue el cuarto de cinco hijos. Llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1982, a la edad de quince años. Nelson asistió a Belmont High School en Los Ángeles. Completó su educación general en Los Angeles City College y luego se transfirió a la Universidad Estatal de California en Los Ángeles, donde obtuvo su titulo en ingeniería civil en 1997. Nelson era una persona amante del hogar; le gustaba quedarse en casa y pasar tiempo con la familia. Los fines de semana disfrutaba de "carne asada y música" y de sacar a pasear al parque a sus perros, a los que quería mucho. Nelson era un padre proactivo que pasaba gran parte de su tiempo libre con su hijo. Entrenó a su hijo para perfeccionar sus habilidades futbolísticas, le enseñó a leer música y también le enseñó a tocar el piano. Nelson transmitió su legado a su hijo para que lo siguiera.
A Nelson le sobreviven su esposa, hijo, hermano, dos hermanas y numerosas sobrinas y sobrinos que lo veneraban.
El funeral de Nelson se llevará a cabo el miércoles 3 de julio en Glendale Forest Lawn. Las visitas serán de 10:00 am a 1:00 pm. El servicio fúnebre será de 2:30 p.m. a 3:30 p.m. en “Church of the Recessional”. 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale CA 91205
