Nannie Ethel was born as a twin on March 24, 1931, to her parents Namon C. Jones and Rachel Hedgepeth Jones. She departed this life after an extended illness, February 13, 2020, in West Covina, CA.
She grew up on a farm in Knightdale, North Carolina. Nannie was educated through the Wake County school system and graduated from James E. Shepard High School in Zebulon, North Carolina. She met Lemuel Glennis Taylor during this time on June 22, 1949, they were married in Raleigh, North Carolina. During this union, they received, with joy their three children Iletha Faye, Lemuel Darnell, and Carsandra Yvonne Taylor.
Together, Ethel and Glennis left North Carolina and moved their family to Cliffwood, New Jersey. While living in New Jersey she became a certified nurse's assistant at Perth Amboy Hospital in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Nannie was a strong, loving and giving person. She loved to talk and give advice. Ethel was a very spiritual woman who loved helping others. She ended her career, after leaving an impact on numerous families, as a long-term caregiver.
In 2006, due to an illness, Nannie relocated to Southern California to live her daughter, Carsandra. While in California her hobbies included talking to anyone that would listen, gardening, visiting friends and traveling. It was also her joy to attend Mt. San Antonio College and LA Sparks basketball games.
Nannie was a woman of faith and became a member of St. Stevens Baptist Church in La Puente, CA.
She lived the rest of her days comfortably and peacefully in West Covina, California with her daughter Carsandra as her caregiver and friend.
Nannie was proceeded in death by her parents, twin sister Fannie Estelle Monroe, husband Lemuel Glennis Taylor, brother Marshall Jones, niece Catrina Jones Motte, granddaughter Deanna Gayle Taylor and her husband Charlie Jennette Jr.
Nannie Ethel is survived by her son; Darnell Taylor of Cliffwood, New Jersey; two daughters; Faye Alston of Durham, North Carolina and Carsandra Taylor of West Covina, California; brother; Elijah Jones of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Darnell Taylor Jr. of Rhode Island; Tanisha Alston of Durham, North Carolina; John Anthony Alston of Durham, North Carolina; 8 great-grandchildren, Maiven, Semia, Melodic, Angelina, Noah, Nasir, Zoe, and Khamiron and a great-great-grandson, Steele; 3 brothers-in-law, Rodrick Allen Taylor, Theodore Taylor, and Clarence Monroe.
Two aunts; Queen Cooper of Durham, North Carolina; Lucrecy Johnson of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; a niece, Angela Walker of Suitland, Maryland, a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
