Nancy Ann Harrison, 79, died in the company of family and friends on January 27, 2020, in Palm Desert, California. Born in Concordia, Kansas, she grew up in Tucson, Arizona, before moving to California, where she spent her life refining her love of art, culture, and the cultivation of friends and family. A Chargers and '49ers fan, she was passionate about the sport and could hold her own among the best in lively conversations about football strategies and statistics, as well as literature, politics, cooking, philosophy, and style. She was an early organizer of the Idyllwild Jazz Festival and involved in many community groups and activities. A devout Catholic, she was a woman of grace, with a gentle wisdom and a loving soul. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas J. Herman; and husband, Edward S. Harrison; and is survived by her stepchildren Chet Harrison; Deniene Rivenburg (Harrison) and her husband, Roy; Daniel Harrison and his wife, Jennifer; six grandchildren; and many dear friends. She was loved and will be missed by many. A funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert, to be followed by a private family celebration of her life. Arrangements are being made to have her interred with her son.
