Plaistow, NH: Nancy J. (Jones) (Edney) Hall-MacLeish, 73 , died on Tuesday morning, December 24, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Byron and Barbara (Frost) Jones, she was raised in Groveland, MA, and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1958. As a young woman, Mrs. Hall- MacLeish worked first as the secretary to the late former Plaistow Police Chief, Alexander Brown. She later was employed as a dental hygienist for local dentists. She also worked as a secretary for the former VanNets C o. of Haverhill and Plaistow and as office manager at Custom Carriages of Plaistow and later as a tax examiner for eleven years at the Internal Revenue Service. Most recently she worked as a ticket clerk at the AMC Loews Theatre in Methuen. Mrs. Hall-MacLeish also conducted home plant parties locally under the name of Earth and Greenery.
A resident of Plaistow since 1968, she was a member of the Plaistow Professional and Business Women's Club, and The Chrome Roamers Car Club and served the town of Plaistow as an elections worker and former Cub-Scout Den Mother.
An avid Red Sox fan and movie buff, Mrs. Hall-MacLeish enjoyed skiing, gardening, Jazz, The Blues, and Gospel Music and excursions to the beach in her convertible.
Survivors include her husband Russell N. MacLeish, a son Brian R. Edney and his partner Charlene Nutter of Sandown, two daughters and sons-in-law, April S. (Edney) and Brian Walton of Kingston, and Jennifer L. (Hall) and Barry J. Raymond,Jr. of Sandown, a daughter-in-law, Linda Edney of Pelham, two brothers, Byron Jones of Kingston and John Jones of Kearsarge, four sisters, Frances Kuchar of Lawrence, MA, Michelle Jones of Kingston, Barbara Martin of Conway and Janet "Kelly" Forrest of Madison, six grandchildren, Erika Walton, Ashley Edney, Alexander Edney, Jaymie Walton, Michelle Raymond and Christopher Raymond, a great grandson, James M. Zito, her mother-in-law, Shirley I. MacLeish and sister-in-law, Linda Murphy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10a.m. in the funeral home followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland, MA.
